Salary up to £70,000 DOE | Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 | Relocation Allowance up to £5,000

Find your future with Heartland Vets! Our team is excited to welcome an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive practice in the heart of Highland Perthshire. This is a permanent opportunity within a true mixed animal practice, though we are also happy to consider a fixed-term contract for the right candidate depending on individual circumstances.

This is a genuinely varied mixed practice role with an approximate caseload of 60% small animal and 40% large animal. Our large animal caseload is primarily focused on beef cattle and sheep, with additional work involving pigs, deer, poultry, and camelids. We also cover some equine caseloads such as vaccinations, dental procedures, and occasional colic cases. On the small animal side, you will see a wide variety of patients including dogs, cats, and rabbits.

This role would suit a confident and capable vet who enjoys the diversity of mixed practice and is comfortable handling a broad range of cases, including large animal surgical procedures such as cow caesarean sections. Working across our two branches, you will be supported by a welcoming and collaborative team who value communication, teamwork, and high standards of patient care
.
Fix or Flex – find your perfect balance

We offer a flexible approach to working patterns to help support work–life balance. Full-time and part-time applications are welcomed, and we are open to discussing a variety of working arrangements including condensed hours such as 3 or 4-day weeks, as well as school-hour working patterns where possible.

There are no routine weekend shifts required for this role. However, participation in a 1 in 5 out-of-hours rota is an essential part of the position. This includes weeknight on-call responsibilities and 1 in 5 weekends, with time off in lieu following your on-call weekend.

Both branches are well equipped with digital X-ray and ultrasound, alongside a range of additional equipment including an Ovacyte faecal analyser, stance analyser, PRP therapy kit, brand new bull fertility testing equipment, and motorised equine dental equipment. Our varied caseload and strong team support create an excellent environment for developing clinical skills across multiple species.

Our work covers a wide geographical area including Loch Tayside, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Blairgowrie, Aberfeldy, Killin and the Rannoch area. This provides exposure to a broad and interesting range of cases while travelling through some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside, with stunning views along the way.
