We are looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our small friendly and enthusiastic practice in Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire. Established for over 100 years we have built a loyal local client base and are known for being a true community vet. We enjoy supporting local charities along with taking part in some fundraising too. Beaconsfield is a busy town with plenty of shops restaurants and bars plus great commuter links.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team as we continue to develop and strengthen our practice. This role is ideal for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about leadership and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high-quality clinical environment.

About the role

You will take a key leadership role within our nursing team, ensuring high clinical standards and exceptional patient care. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the nursing team while promoting a positive and supportive working culture

• Managing stock levels across the practice

• Organising and coordinating training to maintain high standards of nursing care

• Monitoring staff performance and coordinating biannual appraisals

• Organising and attending internal meetings

• Supporting clinical coaching and mentoring of student nurses

• Ensuring all equipment is well maintained and safe for use

• Working collaboratively with the wider team and contributing to ongoing practice improvement initiatives

Work schedule

We work Monday to Friday inclusive with a mix of early shifts 8 to 4 for three weeks and late shifts 12.30pm to 7pm for one week. There is also a 1 in 4 Saturday morning shift 8am to 12pm.

We are flexible with rota swaps where possible to support personal commitments and encourage a healthy work and life balance. Daily tea breaks included a well earned cuppa and chat is very important here.

About the practice

You will be working alongside three other members of our nursing team in a well equipped practice including ultrasound new DR processing x ray dental x ray operating theatre for orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue procedures fully equipped lab and three consulting rooms. What we are looking

You will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in a senior or leadership role and a passion for team development and high standards. Strong communication skills a proactive approach and the confidence to share ideas and lead by example are essential.
