Are you a people person with a passion for customer service and a love for animals? Ark Vetcare is looking for a warm, professional, and organised Receptionist to join our busy and welcoming veterinary team on a full-time, permanent basis.
As the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, you will play a vital role in creating a positive experience for every visitor to the practice. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy multitasking, and take pride in delivering excellent customer care, we would love to hear from you.
About Ark Vetcare
Ark Vetcare is a busy and progressive small animal practice and one of three clinics within our group, alongside our practices in Dún Laoghaire and Kilmacud.
We are proud of our friendly, supportive culture and our commitment to providing exceptional veterinary care. Our well-equipped hospital offers advanced services including specialist orthopaedic surgery, ultrasound diagnostics, K-Laser therapy, an in-house laboratory, and advanced anaesthetic monitoring for our patients.
Our team consists of 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 Veterinary Nurses, 3 Support Staff, a Student Nurse, and a Practice Manager, bringing together a blend of experienced professionals and newer graduates who work collaboratively to provide outstanding patient and client care.
The Role
As Receptionist, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional client care while supporting the administration and organisation of the practice. You will greet clients and their pets, register new clients, manage appointments and maintain the practice diary, ensuring that schedules run efficiently. The role will also involve handling client payments and cash transactions, answering client queries both in person and over the phone, managing incoming emails, and liaising closely with our veterinary surgeons and nurses to support patient care.
In addition to front-of-house responsibilities, you will assist with stocking shelves, preparing client orders, and maintaining a clean, organised, and professional reception area. This is a varied and rewarding role that requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple tasks while maintaining a friendly and professional manner.
About You
We are looking for an empathetic and motivated individual who enjoys interacting with clients and working as part of a team. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to remain organised and efficient in a busy practice environment. Strong administrative and organisational abilities are essential, along with basic computer literacy and confidence using digital systems.
Previous experience in a customer service, receptionist, or client care role would be advantageous, but it is not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is approachable, eager to learn, and committed to providing an excellent experience for our clients and their pets.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time position working a rotating shift pattern of either 7:30am to 3:30pm or 11:00am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid break each day. The role also includes participation in a Saturday rota, working one Saturday in every four from 8:00am to 3:00pm with a 30-minute break. Team members are required to work at least one Bank Holiday per year, with hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Overtime is provided as Time Off in Lieu (TOIL). Due to the nature of our group structure, occasional travel to support our other practices in Dún Laoghaire and Kilmacud may be required.
