We are thrilled to invite applications from experienced candidates seeking to join our team of Veterinary Care Assistants within our cutting-edge multi-discipline referral hospital.
This is a full-time position working a 5-day week, 8-hour shifts, rotating weekly between wards, ICU, prep room, and surgery (shifts between 7am-10pm). A share of 1:4 weekends, alternating early (7am-3pm) & late (1pm-9pm) shifts.

Spanning an impressive 36,000 sq ft, our hospital is one of the largest in the UK. With the capacity to treat up to 10,000 pets annually, we provide a comprehensive range of specialist-led multi-discipline veterinary referrals and offer round-the-clock emergency care services to pet owners across the Midlands. Conveniently located with easy access from the A38 through Longbridge, our site is an integral part of the West Longbridge regeneration project.
Responsibilities:
In this exciting and varied role, you will -
* Work collaboratively and with passion and contribute to the strong clinical team to deliver high-quality clinical and client care across the Hospital.
* Work with clinicians, nurses and owners, to provide hospitalised patients with the highest standard of individualised patient care.
* Ensure the hospitalisation facilities and equipment are cleaned and properly maintained in line with the infection control policy and all consumables are organised and well stocked.
* Be a proactive and reliable team member in supporting the nurses and services.
Role requirements
* Animal Care qualifications are desirable, however in their absence considerable experience in animal handling and husbandry will be considered with equal merit.
* Experience working with animals is essential, ideally with some experience working in a clinical environment.
* You should be able to demonstrate your commitment to our professional and ethical standards.
* Remain calm and focused under pressure, with a caring and empathetic approach to your work.
* A strong team player with confident and effective communication skills.
