Farm - Veterinary Surgeon
Salary up to £65,000 DOE and relocation allowance up to £2,000
Kernow Vets are looking for an experienced and confident Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and supportive team. We’re proud to stand alongside the farming community, providing reliable and sustainable veterinary support that helps protect both livestock health and the long-term success of our clients’ businesses. This is a role where relationships matter just as much as clinical skill, and where your work has a real, tangible impact.
A typical week at Kernow offers plenty of variety. Your time will be split across TB testing, routine and preventative work, herd health planning, emergency care and authorising dispensaries, alongside regular client discussions that allow you to build strong, trusted relationships. Artificial insemination, predominantly in cattle, also forms part of the role. Our clients range from smallholdings through to large commercial units with herds of up to 1,000 animals, working primarily with beef and sheep, alongside some dairy, pigs and the occasional alpaca.
This is predominantly an ambulatory role, so a full driving licence is essential. You’ll be supported with a vehicle, mobile phone and laptop, as well as access to a wide range of equipment to help you work efficiently and confidently in the field. While most of the work is carried out on-farm, stable facilities are available at our practices when needed, giving flexibility when cases require it.
We’re looking for a vet who is comfortable working in sole charge, managing on-call responsibilities and carrying out both daytime visits and emergency work. TB testing qualification is essential. You’ll be joining a supportive, well-structured team that values collaboration, modern facilities and open communication. Work-life balance is genuinely respected, with time off in lieu offered for any unexpected additional calls, helping to keep workloads fair and sustainable.
Our farm team includes a dedicated TB testing team of three, seven Farm Veterinary Surgeons, ACA, vet tech and a supportive client care team. You’ll be surrounded by knowledgeable colleagues who understand the realities of farm practice and are always willing to share insight and support.

You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
