JOB DESCRIPTION
We are in search of a highly skilled and motivated Computational Geneticist who has an interest in artificial intelligence (AI) to join our research and development team. As a Computational Geneticist, your main focus will be on utilizing AI techniques, particularly Language and Learning Models (LLMs), to analyze and interpret genomic data. Your contributions will enhance our understanding of genetic mechanisms and their implications in various domains, including healthcare and agriculture. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, you will create computational models, develop algorithms, and apply statistical methods to analyze large-scale genomic datasets while integrating AI approaches into genetic research. The ideal candidate for this position should have a solid background in genetics, computational biology, and bioinformatics. Additionally, a strong interest in AI methods, with a particular emphasis on LLMs, is highly desired. We strongly encourage plant geneticists to apply, as your expertise and knowledge in the field of plant genetics will be instrumental in pioneering advancements in agricultural research and development.
Responsibilities
- Apply AI techniques, specifically LLMs, to analyze and interpret large-scale genomic datasets.
- Develop and implement computational tools, algorithms, and pipelines for data processing, quality control, and analysis.
- Utilize LLMs to extract meaningful insights from genetic data, including characterizing genetic variations, gene expression patterns, and regulatory networks associated with phenotypic traits or diseases.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and execute research projects, leveraging AI approaches, and contribute to data interpretation and result validation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in genomics, AI and LLM technologies and apply innovative approaches to solve biological problems.
- Communicate research findings through oral presentations and written reports, highlighting the integration of AI and LLMs in genetic research.
- Collaborate with external partners or collaborators foster collaborations and stay abreast of AI advancements in genomics.
- Ensure responsible data handling and AI model development practices.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of genetics, genomics, and strong interest in the application of AI techniques in these fields.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Perl, as well as experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Experience with statistical analysis, data mining, and/or machine learning techniques applied to genomics data.
- Solid understanding of molecular biology and genetics principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Publication record demonstrating contributions to the field of computational genomics
- Familiarity with high-performance computing and cloud-based computing environments is a plus.
