🍇 About grape:
Our entrepreneurial spirit drives us in what we do and what we are passionate about. Our mission is to become the premier health partner in the insurance business. Recognising the need for innovation in the traditional employee insurance model we are set to revolutionize the employee insurance industry. We help companies support people before and after they get sick and to make more of their time. Our insurance solutions reduce monotonous and manual work for employees, doctors, HR & payroll managers. As we strive to lead a technology-driven transformation, we put employees first.
At grape we pride ourselves on our people and our culture. We continue to grow fast and that’s where you come in. Our team is dynamic, diverse and full of creative ideas. Want to join? We can’t wait to get to know you!
Your role:
Hi there. Janine here. I know, this is unconventional… I’m deviating from the regular job description script. Why? Because this role is different. The starting point for this role is different, and we want to communicate that clearly and transparently so we find our perfect match.
If you go onto our website and think, “This looks great”, we are not for you.
If you go onto our website and think, “Amazing opportunity for a rebrand to put my mark on this brand”, we are also not for you.
Because here’s the truth: For the past year, we’ve worked on the fundamentals of our brand: from our brand identity (mission, vision, values, brand associations) to our tone of voice. From that, we’ve built a really strong visual foundation that we believe in long term. And now, we’re at a place where we’re looking to slowly build up in-house design, and we need someone who can put the brand before personal signature, buy into the new visual identity, execute on it with care, and then, over the years, shape its trajectory and help develop it further.
No rebrand. No reset. Continuous improvement.
“How am I supposed to apply to a job where I haven’t seen the new visual identity? How will I know whether I can identify with it or not?”
That’s a great question. We’ve decided to give you temporary viewer access to our Figma if you reach out to our TA Manager, Marko ([email protected])
Now that that’s settled, here’s some more info on the role:
Our aim to revolutionize the employee insurance industry should shine through at every touchpoint. And for that, we need you. This role is paramount to the success of our team and our brand. We want to get it right.
You will breathe life into our brand with your design skills and branding expertise, ensuring we deliver high-quality design solutions that connect with our audience, feel distinctively human, and feel distinctively us. You are equally skilled in creative direction and creative execution, taking ownership and occasionally working with freelancers to speed up the process.
To do that, you will put yourself in the shoes of many different stakeholders and work closely with our brand and marketing team to shape the grape story going forward.
The team, you ask?
At this stage of growth, most of us are generalists wearing many different hats each day. Outside of work, you might find us boating on the lake, snowboarding in Arosa, hiking in Appenzell, playing dress-up with our kids, or looking out the window in a classroom in Bern.
A bunch of wonderful human beings, skilled in many different things in life. Each one is equally important in building this brand step by step, day by day.
What you’ll do:
- Execute on our new visual identity and help shape our brand guidelines going forward.
- Lead design projects from concept through delivery.
- Bring your creative expertise and know-how to campaign planning just as much as to execution.
- Design and create digital and physical collateral for brand and marketing initiatives.
- Review design work from external partners to ensure high quality and brand consistency.
What you’ll need:
- You bring +6 years of experience, either from a branding/ creative agency or working within an in-house team.
- You have a proven track record of building brands, are able to adapt your designs to the respective brand, and are proficient at reviewing design materials to ensure cohesive execution.
- Your strong aesthetic sensibility and passion for branding allow you to interpret the grape brand and deliver a unified narrative through your work.
- You excel at managing a variety of design projects simultaneously, collaborating effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- You are highly skilled in Figma and equally adept with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. After Effects is a plus.
- Creating animated digital assets that are versatile and impactful is second nature to you.
- You have an eye for detail, precision, and exceptional typography skills.
- While you thrive working independently, you also enjoy partnering with diverse teams to bring projects and campaigns to life.
- As a collaborator, you challenge others constructively while pushing your own creative boundaries.
- You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, with German being a plus.
What you will learn:
- Refine expertise in brand storytelling by working on diverse design projects that bring the grape brand’s vision to life across various platforms.
- Expand skills in cross-functional collaboration through hands-on involvement with internal teams, external freelancers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of creative initiatives.
- Deepen proficiency in creating scalable design systems that support cohesive branding and elevate the user experience across digital and physical touchpoints.
- Gain exposure to strategic branding challenges by contributing to high-impact projects and learning how to adapt designs to evolving business needs and audience expectations.
