This role can be on a hybrid working basis, which means you’ll have the opportunity to spend time working both in the studio and at home. We can provide a comprehensive relocation support package as part of any offer, should you need to relocate.  

WHAT’S THE ROLE
As a Senior Concept Artist, you’ll work closely with the Lead Artist and Art Directors to help develop an artistic vision for Frontier’s games. You’ll also mentor, manage, and guide other concept artists to bring that vision to life through concept art production. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

    • Support the Art Director and Concept Lead in developing the look and feel of Frontier’s game worlds.
    • Work together with Producers, other Leads and Directors to improve the quality of the project.
    • Generate key concepts and set benchmarks.
    • Mentor, manage and support a team of Concept Artists.
    • Prepare concept briefs for external contractors and outsource.
    • Provide feedback to the artists.
    • Ensure deliverables are completed on-time and to the right quality.
    • Quickly generate loose and evocative mood pieces or sketches, and production ready concepts, clearly describing the new assets to the art team tasked with authoring the final in-game models.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

    • Organised problem solving, and always striving for the best quality from you and your team.
    • Experienced in building trust and leading a team, mentoring and providing feedback to other artists.
    • Demonstrable experience producing concept art on several shipped game titles.
    • Great draftmanship and proven observational skills, understanding of anatomy, proportion, scale, perspective, lighting, and colour theory.
    • Natural desire to create fantastic player experiences and how your own concepts can help achieve that goal.
    • Mastery of Photoshop and digital painting techniques.
    • Ability to give, take and learn from constructive criticism as well as collaborate on ideas while displaying openness to the requirements of the project.

BONUS IF YOU HAVE

    • Degree in relevant traditional art skill, such as illustration, fine art etc.
    • Knowledge of other packages, and visual disciplines, such as colour grading, digital sculpting, graphic design, 3D Blockout etc.
    • Experience with other mediums and/or industries, such as concept art for cinema, and illustration.
