About the team

We’re the Eneba Engineering team. We bring together product-minded engineers, tech leads, and managers who are passionate about building and maintaining a stable, scalable marketplace for gamers. Our mission is to keep Eneba running smoothly while enabling steady, iterative growth. We focus on reliability, clear ownership, and pragmatic engineering that serves real business needs.

We're looking for a Head of Engineering to own Eneba's engineering organization day to day. You'll drive technical decisions, people structure, process evolution, and AI adoption across an org of 70+ engineers spanning Software Engineering, Mobile, Security, and IT Admin. You'll report directly to our VP of Technology and work in close partnership with our Director of Product.

What you'll own in year one

  • Own the overall stability, reliability, and efficiency of Eneba’s core technology, ensuring the platform runs smoothly while continuing to evolve iteratively over time.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a lean core of engineering managers and tech leads fostering a culture of accountability, knowledge sharing, and strong technical ownership.
  • Maintain and continuously improve engineering practices, processes, and documentation so that teams can onboard quickly, rotate between projects, and keep the “machine” well oiled despite ongoing growth.
  • Collaborate closely with product, data, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into clear technical priorities that optimize for long-term maintainability over constant reinvention.
  • Anticipate scaling and stability risks (e.g., headcount changes, new projects, or shifts in focus) and proactively prepare the platform, architecture, and teams to handle them with minimal disruption.
  • Ensure a high bar for code quality, security, and operational excellence, while keeping the organization lean and efficient rather than growing the team unnecessarily.
  • Create an environment where Eneba can safely experiment with new practices and technologies that improve efficiency or enable future projects when needed, without compromising the stability of the existing platform.
  • AI adoption: setting the culture, tooling, and behavior modeling for AI/LLM usage across the engineering organisation

Requirements

  • 8+ years of engineering experience, with 2+ years as a Head of Engineering, VP Engineering, or equivalent senior engineering leadership role
  • Proven experience leading engineering organisations of 40+ engineers in product-focused tech companies, operating as a manager of managers with tech leads and engineering managers reporting into you across multiple disciplines (backend, frontend, mobile)
  • Strong hands-on software engineering background earlier in your career, with the ability to make architecture and system design decisions across the stack and earn the trust of senior engineers independently
  • Track record of scaling engineering teams in startup or high-growth environments, with a demonstrated ability to move fast, make decisions without heavy approval chains, and operate in ambiguity
  • Experience working in consumer-facing product companies (marketplace, e-commerce, gaming, consumer fintech, or similar)
  • Genuine enthusiasm for people leadership at scale — you've built and coached engineering managers and tech leads over multiple years, developed talent, and handled underperformance, restructures, and difficult conversations directly
  • Active user of AI/LLM tools in your own work, with demonstrated experience driving adoption within your engineering team — including a clear point of view on trade-offs around cost, quality, and use cases
  • Demonstrated ability to run stable, scalable platforms with a focus on reliability, predictability, and incremental improvement over time
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven experience partnering closely with product leadership and representing engineering in executive-level and cross-functional discussions
  • Comfortable operating without rigid long-term roadmaps; able to bring judgment, structure, and continuity while preparing the organisation for likely challenges
  • Experience working in multi-product or multi-project organisations is a strong plus
  • Based in Lithuania or willing to travel regularly to our Kaunas headquarters, particularly in the first three months
  • Fluent English (business proficiency required)
