ACTIVITIES STAFF
POSITION SUMMARY
Activities Staff are an integral part Cruise Department, focused on delivering a vibrant and "Remarkably Arabian" experience. This role involves supporting the Assistant Cruise Director and Cruise Director in the delivery of the Entertainment product to our Guests , serving as an effective leader in any of the assigned cruise programs activities and recreation venues (Water Slides, Rope Courses, Rock Climbing Wall, Crazy Golf, etc.),
The Activities Staff must excel in confident enforcement of safe practice, service skills (dealing with both adults and children), conflict resolution, counselling, mediating and motivational skills, while maintaining a collaborative and positive team environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Expertise in Entertainment Delivery: Demonstrates skills as an effective host for and outdoor activities including, Water Slides, Rope Courses, Rock Climbing Wall, Crazy Golf etc, using their personality, talents and language ability to engage audiences of all ages. Must be able to provide quality service and be able to enhance the experience for guests onboard. Attend parties and events where needed to bring an element of fun to the experience.
- all revenue centers onboard in an organic and genuine manner, tailored to the expectations of Arabian travelers.
- Guest Engagement: Builds relationships with guests through hosting and supporting various events. Partners with The Shore Excursions Team to escort guests on tours during port calls, enhancing guest engagement.
- Communication: Maintains ongoing communication with Assistant Cruise Director and fellow team members to ensure alignment and address any needs or concerns. Ensures any feedback or ‘guest complaints’ are directed to the right areas for positive and efficient resolution.
- Grooming Standards Compliance: Always adheres to grooming standards in alignment with brand expectations and guidelines.
- Safety and Compliance: Responsible for performing Safety, Environmental, and Emergency Response duties as assigned, in accordance with Aroya Cruises' protocols. Ensures the daily opening and closing procedures for Water Slides, Rope Courses, Rock Climbing Wall etc. following the standard operating and closing checklist. Assists guests in fitting harnesses and helmets correctly and supervising the use of all safety equipment. Sets routes on a regularly scheduled basis. Ensures safety checks including all necessary documentation. Conducts weekly
inspections of all rigging systems with special attention paid to safety systems and features and must be included in the outlet weekly report.
- Safe Practice Enforcement: Understands and enforces the guidelines for safe practices when guests are joining various activities and using recreational venues. If confrontation arises, he/she should be able to diffuse the situation and have the guest leave contented.
- Equipment Management: Be responsible for all equipment used to perform the role and report to Assistant Cruise Director any equipment malfunctions or problems. Maintains all equipment, including but not limited to: cleaning of harnesses and holds, replacement and inspection of ropes, and minor maintenance and repairs to Rock Climbing Wall and Rope Courses.
- Time Management: Effectively practice proper time management to prepare, execute and break down set ups and venues for assigned activities and events.
- Embarkation/Disembarkation: Supports with guest flow and general assistance of the Hotel Department to ensure the guests receive a ‘remarkably Arabian’ welcome and farewell.
- Additional Duties: The Activities Staff will carry out any other duty which may be reasonably requested by the Assistant Cruise Director or Cruise Director
SKILLS
- Demonstrates strong command of both verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic is desired.
- Capable of addressing issues effectively and developing appropriate solutions.
