ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPER-AROYA CRUISES
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper is responsible for supporting the Executive Housekeeper in the effective management of all housekeeping functions onboard Aroya. The position ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance coordination, and guest satisfaction across all guest and crew areas.
The role combines operational supervision, administrative control, and leadership of the housekeeping team, with a strong focus on compliance, cost control, and service excellence. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper acts as a key link between Housekeeping Supervisors, Laundry operations, and other departments to ensure seamless delivery of housekeeping services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper in overseeing the full housekeeping operation, including guest staterooms, crew cabins, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and laundry services.
- Ensure all cleaning procedures, standards, and schedules are consistently followed in accordance with Company SOPs and public health regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas and ensure corrective actions are implemented and followed up.
- Validate stateroom readiness and public area cleanliness on turnaround days (TAD) to meet operational standards.
- Oversee luggage handling operations during embarkation and disembarkation to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure proper control, issuance, and return of master keys and equipment in compliance with security procedures.
- Lead, train, coach, and motivate Housekeeping Supervisors, Housekeeping Admin, and crew members.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct regular departmental training sessions in line with the training matrix and operational needs.
- Ensure all training activities are properly documented and logged.
- Conduct daily briefings with Supervisors, ensuring clear communication of priorities, follow-ups, and special projects.
- Support crew performance management, including appraisals, evaluations, and disciplinary processes where required.
- Prepare and review performance appraisals for Housekeeping Supervisors.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting, including inspection logs, training records, and operational reports.
- Monitor guest feedback, complaints, and service trends, ensuring timely corrective actions and reporting to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Contribute to End-of-Cruise reports and departmental performance analysis.
- Conduct and verify monthly inventories for all housekeeping supplies (linen, uniforms, consumables, equipment, etc.).
- Ensure inventory results are accurate and timely submitted to the Housekeeping Storekeeper and Executive Housekeeper.
- Monitor stock levels, consumption trends, and wastage, supporting effective cost control and budget compliance.
- Oversee Guest Laundry operations, ensuring timely collection, processing, and delivery in line with service standards.
- Monitor linen circulation, quality, and par levels to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene standards and proper handling procedures.
- Identify, report, and follow up on maintenance issues in guest and crew areas.
- Coordinate closely with Technical Department to ensure timely resolution of defects.
- Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and public health requirements.
- Provide proactive and professional guest service, ensuring all requests and concerns are handled promptly.
- Take immediate corrective action on guest complaints, focusing on efficient service recovery.
- Support initiatives that enhance guest satisfaction and onboard experience.
- Ensure full compliance with Company policies, SOPs, and brand standards.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and respect for guest privacy at all times.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superior, but not limited to the above.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive housekeeping experience in cruise industry, including supervisory or managerial roles.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (spoken and written). Additional languages are an advantage.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop a multicultural team in a high-pressure environment.
- Operational Knowledge: Strong understanding of housekeeping operations, laundry processes, inventory management, and public health standards.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and commitment to cleanliness, presentation, and operational standards.
- Customer Service: Strong guest-focused mindset with the ability to handle complaints and deliver effective service recovery.
