POSITION SUMMARY

 Assistant Stage Supervisor is a key leader in the Cruise Department, focused on delivering a vibrant and "Remarkably Arabian" experience. This role involves supporting the Stage Supervisor in ensuring all technical elements of the Theater Entertainment program are delivered to the highest standard

The Assistant Stage Supervisor under the supervision of the Stage Supervisor directs and supports the Rigging & Automation Technician and Theater - Technical Stage Staff in the operation for all Entertainment areas onboard the vessel. They assist in ensuring the daily responsibilities of administration, supervision and leadership for all Audio-Visual equipment and personnel.

The Assistant Stage Supervisor must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of standard theatre operations including, Audio, Lighting and backstage operations and excel in team management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and guest service while maintaining a collaborative and positive team environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expertise in Technical Stage Supervision: Acts as audio-visual troubleshooter to help solve any equipment or stage problems and informs the Stage supervisor. Assists in the management of the usage and operational maintenance of all audio­visual equipment, and the general operations of this equipment for performances by entertainers, as well as all programmed activities by the entertainment staff. Assists in providing technical management for shows and activities and in the preparation of the schedules of all the technicians to support all onboard shows, events, and activities as per the daily program created by the Cruise Director. Reports to the Stage Supervisor to resolve any scheduling conflicts. Creates a monthly all day duty rotation for the Rigging & Automation Technician, Theater - Technical Stage Staff. Responsible for the projection of any films and/or video movies or other material. Designs or oversees the design of lighting, sound, and stage effects for featured entertainers.

  • Event Execution: Oversees key events throughout the voyage, ensuring they adhere to brand standards and SOPs. Maintains high attention to detail to optimize the guest experience, including sound, lighting, and staging

  • Guest Interaction: Provides daily interaction with Guests and provides outstanding customer service and delivery. Attends passenger functions as required by Head of Department.

  • Meeting Leadership: Alongside the Stage Supervisor, leads regular meetings with direct reports and attends departmental meetings as required.

  • People and Team Management: Directs, coaches, supports, supervises, and evaluates (in conjunction with the Stage Supervisor) the job performance of the Rigging & Automation Technician and Theater - Technical Stage Staff. Ensures that the set standards are kept, and staff members work according to their respective job descriptions. Observes and evaluates all and their work procedures to ensure company standards in quality and service are met. Practices the art of delegation with the technical team during peak times, while at the same time leading by example. Managing with direct reports any performance improvement requirements and always fostering a positive and respectful work environment.

  • Team Training: Provides on the job training and coaching to staff members to strengthen their current performance and preparation for advancement and to schedule weekly training sessions for backstage succession planning.

  • Technical Maintenance: Performs weekly inspections of all entertainment venues and areas to ensure all technicians are keeping entertainment technical areas clean, organised, and safe. Coordinates with the Electronics Engineer to schedule and assist in preventative maintenance and cleaning. Manages the security of all entertainment areas and equipment; ensures that all lockers and booths are kept locked when not in use and all microphones and equipment are removed from bandstands and kept in a secure location.

  • Technical Inventory: Maintains up-to-date documentation of inventory related to both equipment and supplies. This position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment to ensure that a regular check on inventory is carried out to guarantee that the vessel has sufficient consumables.

  • Communication: Maintains ongoing communication with the Stage Supervisor, Entertainment Technical Manager and Assistant Cruise Director and direct reports to ensure alignment and address any needs or concerns. Directs weekly meetings for Rigging & Automation Technician and Theater - Technical Stage Staff to resolve any issues that may arise in certain areas.

  • Guest Experience: Is aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation, in order to assist guests and crew members with inquiries.

  • Grooming Standards Compliance: Ensures the department adheres to, monitors, and enforces grooming standards in alignment with brand expectations and guidelines.

  • Safety and Compliance: Responsible for performing Safety, Environmental, and Emergency Response duties as assigned, in accordance with Aroya Cruises' protocols. Keep track of all necessary safety certification for technical equipment for continued validity. Complete daily checks of all Theater Technical working and storage areas, ensuring they are clean, well maintained and up to Health, Environmental, Safety and Security – Management System standards. Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.

  • Guest Experience: Is aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation, in order to assist guests and crew members with inquiries.

  • SKILLS

    • Demonstrates strong command of both verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic is desired.

    • Capable of addressing issues effectively, making timely decisions, and developing appropriate solutions.

    • Exhibits strong management and leadership skills

    • In Depth working knowledge of Dante Audio Networks, Digico & Grand MA show control systems.

    • Demonstrated experience in motivating, leading and engaging a diverse workforce to increase constructive collaboration and improve productivity.

    • Must be able to work and excel in a team environment and individually.

    • Must be flexible in terms of last-minute changes in itineraries, activities, and events.
