Housekeeping Supervisor
Reports to: Assistant Executive Housekeeper / Executive Housekeeper
The Housekeeping Supervisor onboard Aroya is a leadership role integral to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. Reporting to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Supervisor oversees and guides the housekeeping team, ensuring efficient stateroom cleaning, public area maintenance, and adherence to housekeeping protocols. This position plays a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and pristine environment for guests, contributing significantly to their overall comfort and satisfaction during their onboard experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supervise the cleaning and maintenance of guest and crew accommodations, as well as all assigned public areas.
· Conduct crew orientation, briefings, work planning, and task delegation.
· Communicate effectively and apply practical coaching techniques to develop and motivate staff.
· Review, monitor, and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
· Plan and manage manpower schedules, equipment, and supply requirements for the assigned section, ensuring accountability for cost control, quality standards, utilization, and employee performance.
· Ensure ongoing training, competency, and proficiency of assigned employees.
· Enforce adherence to company grooming and appearance standards.
· Direct daily housekeeping operations to ensure consistent service delivery in guest rooms, crew areas, and public spaces.
· Handle and resolve guest complaints when required, ensuring prompt and professional service recovery.
· Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, crew accommodations, and public areas to ensure compliance with company standards.
· Plan and coordinate special cleaning programs, including carpet shampooing, deep cleaning, and general cleaning projects.
· Maintain housekeeping supply inventories at approved par levels and submit requisitions to the Housekeeping Storekeeper as required.
· Report all maintenance deficiencies identified in guest rooms, crew areas, and public spaces in a timely manner.
· Apply cost-efficient and environmentally responsible working practices at all times.
· Monitor and manage hours of work and rest for subordinates to ensure full compliance with MLC regulations.
· Maintain strict accountability for issued master keys and other working keys.
· Report any loss or damage of ship’s property to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper without delay.
· Ensure all lost and found items are reported and handled promptly in accordance with company procedures.
Requirements:
· Supervisory Experience: Proven experience in supervisory or managerial roles within the maritime or hospitality industry, showcasing the ability to lead, mentor, and drive housekeeping staff to achieve excellence.
· Language Proficiency: Proficient in English; knowledge of Russian, Turkish or Arabic is advantageous for effective communication with guests, staff, and other departments.
· Team Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities, demonstrating the ability to guide and manage housekeeping teams, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
· Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities to coordinate and manage housekeeping operations efficiently, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for guests.
· Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear communication with housekeeping staff, other onboard departments, and management.
· Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges, resolve issues, and ensure the smooth operation of the housekeeping department.
· Customer Service Orientation: A customer-focused approach with the ability to contribute to a positive guest experience through efficient housekeeping services.
· Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of maritime environments, managing fluctuating demands and addressing guest needs promptly.
· Professionalism: Exemplary professional conduct, maintaining a high level of integrity, discretion, and respect for guest and staff privacy.
