Most policy makers and members of the public don’t know that leading experts warn the development of superintelligent AI poses a risk of human extinction. When they learn this fact, they often want to do something about it. At ControlAI, we help them understand the situation and take action. Ultimately, we’re working towards an international ban on the development of superintelligence, with the United States leading the way.

We’re a small, scrappy, DC-based team working against long odds. And we think we have a good chance to win, if we can build the right team.

That’s where you might come in. If you have something to offer and would like to join us, this posting is for you. We don’t have a specific role we’re trying to fill here. Instead, we’re searching for unusually talented people to join our team. If you’re one of those people, we’ll design the job around you.

There are no hard requirements. If you’re thinking about applying, then you should apply.  That said, some of the general attributes we’re looking for include:

  • You’ve achieved something significant in your field
  • You've founded and built a successful company or organization
  • You’ve previously held roles with significant levels of responsibility and autonomy
  • People who have worked with you would vouch for your integrity, authenticity, and courage
  • You figure things out quickly
  • You agree with us that prohibiting superintelligence is the most important challenge of our times

You don’t need to have a deep background in AI or policy. If you are talented and driven enough, then you’ll be able to learn.

About ControlAI

ControlAI is a non-profit organization that works to avert the threat of human extinction posed by superintelligent AI.

ControlAI helps hundreds of thousands of people understand where AI is going and supports them as they take civic action. We brief hundreds of lawmakers to inform them about the risks and convince them to take a public stance. We operate like a startup, with a focus on concrete outcomes and tangible evidence that our work is bringing the world closer to an international ban on the development of dangerous superintelligence.

In the UK, our campaign has gained support from more than 125 British lawmakers. Based on this successful approach, we’re scaling our efforts in the US.
