Cirrus Logic have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer/Product Definer based in our state-of-the-art Edinburgh office. As part of a highly collaborative team, you will be responsible for engagement with customers, understanding the latest applications and architectural trends, and translating them into cutting-edge system solutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to define and shape premium audio, amplifier and power solutions for the automotive market. This role plays a fundamental part in Cirrus Logic's mixed-signal business with significant scope for development. It is a key position in a lively, exciting, and dynamic environment, suited to a candidate with a growth mindset and a strong passion for learning

Responsibilities:

    • Drive new concept development, architectural analysis, and feasibility investigations for automotive products.
    • Engage with customers, product marketing and internal engineering teams to identify and define system requirements for complex mixed-signal IC designs and the solutions required to enable them.
    • Determine and model architectural trade-offs and propose viable solutions.
    • Perform system-level competitive analysis.
    • Communicate sophisticated technical concepts and specifications to both internal audiences and customers.
    • Be the “voice of the customer” with internal engineering teams.
    • Principal contributor to requirements, concept and architecture design reviews.
    • Input to and advise on design verification, bench validation and production test strategy, and customer engagement planning.
    • Be a thought leader – represent Cirrus at industry conferences and forums, contribute to industry publications, social media and web-based collateral.
    • Provide guidance to the Executive Leadership Team on technology direction.
    • Work with the wider team on product strategy planning and customer engagement.
    • Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 4-8 weeks per year in total) to work with customers and internal teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent), with demonstrably strong and adaptable mixed-signal EE skills.
    • Proven excellence as a system engineer/product definer with knowledge of systems modelling and requirements management processes and tools.
    • The ideal candidate will have significant and recent automotive industry experience at either an OEM (car manufacturer), Tier 1 (direct supplier to the OEM’s) or another semiconductor supplier.
    • Experience with audio amplifier design, power management and DSP.
    • Understanding and experience of system-level and component-level requirements for automotive electronics and semiconductors (e.g. EMC, functional safety, reliability) and release-to-automotive qualification process.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience articulating and presenting complex concepts to customers and uncovering their needs.
    • Naturally collaborative; able to influence and solve problems across functional boundaries.
    • Strong analytical skills combined with a logical approach to problem solving.
    • Natural ability to tackle unfamiliar technical problems and learn quickly.
    • Able to work to tight timescales – autonomously manage contending priorities and thrive in dynamic, cross-functional environments.
    • Practical “hands-on” lab experience.

This position is located in Edinburgh, UK.

This is a hybrid remote position and will follow a 2+ day in-office work schedule, with in-office days based on business needs and team preference. You must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic.
