PDK Engineer (FP-50024280)
The Role:
As a Staff PDK Engineer, you’ll help enable our next generation of high‑performance mixed‑signal ASICs by developing and integrating technology files, models, and verification decks (DRC, LVS, PEX) that form the backbone of our PDKs. You’ll work closely with design teams, foundries, and our silicon technology group to build, validate, and continuously improve these kits.
You’ll also drive EDA methodology development, including automation, qualification, tool evaluation, and flow enhancements—empowering our designers with efficient, reliable infrastructure that accelerates innovation.
If you’re passionate about world‑class PDK development and want to influence silicon design at scale, this role gives you the platform to make a major impact.
What You’ll Own & Create
- Partner with design and layout teams to support IC tape‑outs and ensure smooth execution.
- Develop and qualify physical verification decks (DRC/LVS/PEX) for robust sign‑off.
- Install, customize, and thoroughly test foundry PDKs.
- Enhance and validate our analog/mixed‑signal design environment.
- Support and improve tape‑out methodologies across projects.
- Mentor fellow PDK engineers, sharing best practices and elevating team capabilities.
Skills You’ll Bring to the Team
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 12+ years, or MS with 10+ years of experience in a CAD/PDK‑related field.
- Deep understanding of front‑to‑back analog/mixed‑signal design methodology.
- Strong hands‑on experience with DRC, LVS, and parasitic extraction flows (Calibre experience a strong plus).
- Proven expertise in PDK installation, customization, QA, and full PDK development and validation.
- Ability to effectively support and guide layout and design teams.
- Solid programming skills in Perl, SKILL, Tcl, Python, and/or shell scripting.
- Highly organized, collaborative, and versatile—able to tackle a wide range of CAD methodology challenges.
- Expertise in one or more of the following:
- Developing Cadence dfII tech files, netlisting, simulation setups, and PCells, or
- Creating and maintaining Calibre DRC physical verification decks.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with revision control systems (Perforce strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with Calibre PERC and/or Insight for reliability and electrical rule checking.
- Understanding of EM/EMIR methodologies for electromigration and power‑integrity analysis.
