Engineering Technician
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced technician to join our engineering team based in our Newbury facility. You will be working with a diverse range of cross functional groups coordinating the engineering lab’s inventory and bench projects, with a primary focus on soldering, board rework and custom cable assemblies, whilst supporting test and R&D solutions. Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Board Work: Perform surface-mount soldering related to the assembly, repair, and rework of printed circuit boards (PCBs) populated with surface mount components (including fine pitch components like CSP, BGA, QFN, 0402, 0201, 01005).

Customization: Design and build various custom cable and prototyping board assemblies and perform mechanical modifications to hardware platforms.

PCB level Debug: Use electronic schematics and layout diagrams to assemble, debug, and fix problems at the board or system level under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Lab Operations: Implement and document lab procedures, ensure proper setup of test stations, and manage and document inventory efficiently through calibration and maintenance tasks. Procurement of lab consumables.

Test Execution: Execute defined test plans and run basic test sequences to validate board functionality and confirm performance against specifications.

Troubleshooting Support: Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware or software issues across test and hardware platforms
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- An Electrical, Electronic Engineering national qualification or equivalent
- Hands-on soldering skills and knowledge of PCB repair techniques
- Experience and comfort working with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
- Ability to read/interpret circuit board schematics, specification documents, rework instructions
- Soldering skills and knowledge of PCB repair techniques
- Good mechanical skills for the design and adaption of prototyping hardware.
- Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills for recording results and managing lab assets.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic software knowledge in programming such as C or scripting language such as Python
- Familiarity with schematic capture tools
This position is based in our Newbury office, UK
