Science & Technology – Cyber & Quantum Technologies /
Full-time
Quantinuum is seeking to hire a highly motivated scientist to work in the Quantum Cryptography research team. In this role you will have the opportunity to design, prototype and implement cutting-edge algorithms used in quantum information theory, such as randomness extractors, developed together with the theorists of the team.

The team comprises varied profiles and personalities, with expertise in quantum information theory, mathematics, information security, computer science and quantum optics. Moreover, when developing a product from our research, we have the opportunity to collaborate with the experimental quantum optics group and the engineers in the company.

You will be supported and given time to learn in order to deeply understand the algorithms and their purpose to obtain the best results. Ideally, in collaboration with other members of the team, you will be capable of taking a research paper and turning an abstract (e.g. non-explicit) algorithm into code.

Location: London, Cambridge or Oxford (remote and flexible working available within the UK).

Requirements:

    • Ability to perform correctness and runtime analysis of algorithms.
    • Ability to implement and test new algorithms in Python.
    • Familiarity with numerical analysis and optimisation, (e.g. using cvxpy, scipy, noisyopt).
    • Interest in quantum information and quantum computer science in general.

Desirable:

    • Graduate-level experience in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
    • Experience working on a topic involving quantum.
    • Software development experience in a high performance language such as (C/C++, Rust)
    • Ability to take a theoretical paper and turn it into a performant algorithm.
What is in it for you?
Working alongside a highly talented team, with leading names in the quantum computing industry. We offer a highly competitive package, equity, 28 days of paid holiday (in addition to public holidays), a workplace pension, a positive approach to flexible working and enhanced parental and adoption benefits.
