Front End Developer - Quantum Software

Our Cambridge-based quantum software team seeks to hire an experienced Front End Software developer. In this role you will help to develop and deliver the user facing elements of CQ’s web services for cloud-based quantum computing software. You’ll work closely with our quantum computing researchers and software teams to make using quantum computers as easy as sending email.

About the role:
This position involves building user-facing web pages for running programs on quantum computers, and for making the results available to researchers. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and improving existing systems, and you will be heavily involved in building new systems to support our emerging quantum software applications.  A background in computer science or software engineering is required.

Requirements:

    • Previous experience focusing on Front end development
    • Comfortable working on software with a team, communicating ideas, and writing code, ideally Python and Javascript, that can be understood by others
    • Experience with collaboration tools (e.g. version control, bug tracking systems) and general programming tools (e.g. a debugger, profiler, software testing tools)
    • A 2:1 degree or higher in Computer Science, or significant commercial/professional experience in a similar Front end development positions
    • Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js or Ember.js
    • Working with UI/UX designers and other Front end developers
    • Strong communication, time-management, and process management skills

Desirable Skills:

    • Familiarity with quantum computing, quantum algorithms, or quantum information
    • Experience working in a DevOps environment
    • Experience deploying web applications to cloud service providers
    • Skill in visual and user interface design

The deal is intended to close in Q4 this calendar year and is subject to the satisfaction of certain regulatory approvals, and other customary closing conditions.
