The Role
Biofidelity is looking for a Product Development Technician to provide support and work alongside our scientific development team to ensure efficient, smooth operations. The Product Development Technician will be responsible for the preparation and QC of the reagents, supporting evacuation of assay development experiments and will report to the Senior or Principal Scientist.
 
Key responsibilities:
 
       Adherence to SOPs:
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
       Quality Control:
Perform quality control checks and tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure adherence to product specifications and regulatory standards.
       Experiment execution:
Supporting Product Development Scientists to execute experiments to drive troubleshooting and molecular assay development.
       Data analysis:
Performing data analysis with support of Product Development Scientists according to established data analysis methods.
       Technology understanding:
Stay current with advances in molecular biology techniques, instrumentation, and reagents.
       Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all activities, according to established procedures.
       Equipment Maintenance:
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
       Inventory Management:
Supporting Lab Manager to manage inventory levels by monitoring stock levels, ordering materials, and participating in inventory audits.
       Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, quality control, and regulatory affairs, to support product development and continuous improvement efforts.
       Compliance:
Ensure that assay development activities comply with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines, such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) requirements.
 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      Experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction), qPCR (quantitative PCR), isothermal amplification and nucleic acid extraction.
      Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation used in molecular biology assays, including pipettes, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, and spectrophotometers.
      Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
      Proficiency in written communication for documenting protocols, writing reports, and preparing technical documentation
      Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workloads, and meet project timelines.
      Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
      Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records, documenting procedures, and following quality assurance guidelines.
      Clear and effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, present experimental findings, and report results.
      Ensuring quality by adhering to the quality process
      Collaborates effectively with colleagues on experiments and projects, sharing Ideas, and providing support for scientists to achieve common goals
      Willingness to learn from others and adapt to different working styles and perspectives.
      Experience of working within an ISO13485 environment is advantageous
 
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
      Bachelor or advanced degree in molecular biology  + 2 years academic or industrial experience
