The role
 
Biofidelity is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Director of Business Development to establish and lead the growth and management of strategic relationships with academic institutions, reference laboratories, pathology labs, oncologists, and large community oncology practices. This individual contributor role will focus on developing and expanding business within a designated region, with direct reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. This position combines both business development and direct sales responsibilities, requiring the successful candidate to demonstrate exceptional efficiency and effectiveness in driving business growth while cultivating long-term partnerships with key stakeholders and senior leadership. 

The Director of Business Development will have responsibility for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and the Dakotas, and can reside anywhere in that region.

Only candidates with a track record of successfully selling to large academic cancer centers, reference labs, independent pathology labs and large oncology practices, will be considered for this role.

Key responsibilities:
·       Lead the Business Development process in the area of CLIA testing for Biofidelity’s oncology business in a defined region
·       Lead the effort of working with independent pathology labs, academic cancer centers and large community based oncology practices to adopt the ASPYRE technology in their clinical practices
·       Take the lead for the Business Development process in the area of ASPYRE research use only (RUO) reagent sales 
·       Drive sales of Biofidelity’s RUO reagents; secure and retain business through professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities directed at key decision makers
·       Ensure customers and staff are trained on the process of ordering RUO reagents from Biofidelity
·       Lead proposal development, term sheet generation, and negotiations with independent pathology labs, academic cancer centers and large community oncology practices 
·       Drive sales of Biofidelity’s CLIA services business; secure and retain business through professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities directed at key decision makers
·       Ensure customer and staff are trained on the process of submitting specimens to the Biofidelity CLIA lab and work with the pathology lab to acquire tissue sample as needed
·       Analyze potential opportunities and develop sales plans for each target independent pathology lab and community oncology account; develop in-depth knowledge of the customer organization
·       Handle follow-up related to the sale and drive completion of contractual documents
·       Establish and achieve company and individual approved revenue goals 
·       Work closely with the Customer service team to ensure customer satisfaction metrics are achieved
 
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
·       Track record of successfully selling to large academic cancer centers, reference labs, independent pathology labs and large oncology practices and meeting revenue targets (essential)
·       Experience of driving adoption of new technologies
·       Ability to present key technical information to key oncologists, pathologists and laboratory personnel
·       Attention to detail and ability to work simultaneously on multiple priorities
·       Adapt and be flexible to changing priorities
·       Effective negotiation skills
·       Willingness to travel as required, at least 40% of the working week
·       Passionate about oncology, genomics, and personalized medicine
·       Proficiency in developing presentations and financial models
 
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
·       Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, life sciences or equivalent required, MBA or related advanced degree desired
·       5+ years of in-depth commercial, business development, product management, diagnostic marketing, in the oncology space
·       Strong Oncology and/or Lab background required

The expected, full-time, annual base salary range for this position is $150,000-$220,000 plus commissions. The actual base salary will vary based on factors including qualifications, experience and location.
