Legal Counsel
As Legal Counsel, you'll work closely with our General Counsel to provide practical, business-focused legal support across AEVI's operations. You'll act as a trusted partner to teams across Procurement, Product, Information Security, Engineering, and Commercial functions, helping them navigate legal and regulatory matters in a fast-paced technology environment.
This is a hands-on role combining day-to-day commercial contracting with strategic legal advisory work. You'll thrive here if you enjoy finding pragmatic solutions, balancing risk with business needs, and building strong relationships across the organisation.
What you'll be doing:
Commercial Contract
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, with a particular focus on procurement contracts.
- Support the contract approval and execution process.
- Ensure contracts align with AEVI's risk appetite and internal policies.
Legal Advisory
- Provide advice on matters relating to: Data protection and privacy, Intellectual property, Technology and software, Cybersecurity and IT security, Emerging AI-related legal considerations, Partner with Product and Engineering teams on technology-focused legal matters.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams on technology-focused legal matters.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Identify, assess and help mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal policies and compliance frameworks.
- Coordinate with external advisers, including data protection specialists, IP counsel and external law firms where required.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Build trusted relationships across the business and provide clear, commercially focused guidance.
- Support and advise Procurement and other key stakeholders.
- Deliver legal awareness and training sessions when appropriate.
Operational Excellence
- Manage legal matters independently from initiation through to completion.
- Prioritise effectively within a small and agile legal team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal templates, processes and ways of working.

What we are looking for:
- Qualified German lawyer with minimum 8 years post-qualification experience.
- Experience gained in private practice and in-house, ideally within technology, fintech or SaaS businesses.
- Strong expertise in:
- Commercial contracts and procurement
- GDPR and data protection
- Intellectual property
- Technology and software law
- Legal risk assessment
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and inter-personal/ communication skills.
- Strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
