About us

Aave Labs began with a simple question: how do we make financial services like borrowing, saving, and earning more accessible globally?

We built the Aave Protocol, now the world’s largest and most trusted onchain lending market, connecting decentralized finance with individuals, traditional finance, and fintech.

Today, we build trusted, high-quality products that expand access to lending, credit, and savings globally

Our culture

We build trusted products that help people access and discover economic opportunities.

We hold a high bar for quality and craftsmanship. No detail is too small. Trust depends on it.

We’re a global team building products people can actually use, turning complex technology into something simple and reliable.

We stay aligned, move quickly, and think long term, while keeping teams lean and focused on impact.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to work across the Growth and Product teams and become the data backbone that powers opportunity identification across Aave’s ecosystem. You’ll build and maintain the dashboards, pipelines, and data infrastructure that enable the teams to spot growth opportunities, track product performance, and make data-driven decisions at scale.

You’ll build the infrastructure to surface insights and ensure data reliability across the organization. A strong understanding of DeFi mechanics is essential: you need to know what to look for, not just how to query it. You'll work with both onchain data and product/interface data, extracting the behavioral metrics that reveal how users actually engage with our products - conversion rates, retention curves, and the like. You’ll work closely with growth and product stakeholders to ensure the right data is available, reliable, and actionable. An interest in LLMs and how they can be applied to data workflows and insight generation is important as we continue to explore AI-driven approaches.

How you can make an impact:

  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards that track key metrics across Aave’s protocol ecosystem
  • Create and manage data pipelines that process onchain and offchain data sources
  • Build data infrastructure that enables the growth and product teams to identify opportunities
  • Develop automated reporting frameworks for growth KPIs and product performance metrics
  • Explore and integrate LLM-powered tooling to accelerate data analysis and insight generation
  • Proactively identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities from data patterns
  • Collaborate with growth, product, and protocol teams to define the metrics that matter
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility across the organization
  • Define and track product analytics across Aave's interfaces - conversion rates, retention curves, funnels, and user cohorts - to understand and improve the user journey

Let's connect if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering roles
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data pipeline development and analysis
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards (Dune, Metabase, Looker, or similar)
  • Deep understanding of DeFi protocols, onchain data structures, and blockchain analytics
  • Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines at scale
  • Interest in LLMs and AI-assisted data tooling
  • Excellent communication skills. You can present data insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative mindset with low ego. You’re comfortable working across teams and adapting to shifting priorities
  • Experience with product analytics and the metrics that matter for user-facing products (conversion, retention, funnel and cohort analysis)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with real-time data streaming
  • Background in data engineering at a DeFi protocol or crypto-native company
  • Familiarity with Aave Protocol mechanics, GHO, or related DeFi ecosystems
Haven’t quite met all the criteria? Let’s not miss out on the chance to speak. Whilst you might not meet every single requirement, you might bring other, more exciting skills to the companies!
