Join us as the Data Research Lead, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Expana’s Data and Analytics function! Reporting directly to the Research Director, you will lead a dynamic team dedicated to uncovering and integrating new data that will enrich our database and drive our growth strategy.

Your mission? To explore the vast landscape of commodities across both food and non-food categories, identifying and preparing reliable data that will enhance our platform. You will spearhead innovative projects aimed at seamlessly integrating this new data for our external and internal clients, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of industry advancements.

Location

This is a hybrid role primarily based in London, with the flexibility to work remotely. You will be required to travel to our Bourne End office as needed, to collaborate with your team and stakeholders. Join us in this exciting opportunity to make a significant impact!

Responsibilities

    • Developing and implementing the department's strategy in alignment with company objectives.
    • Providing mentorship and support to enhance researchers' skills and knowledge.
    • Overseeing the release and promotion of new data.
    • Coordinating and managing projects that involve multiple departments.
    • Identifying opportunities for improvements in workstreams to enhance process efficiency.
    • Addressing client inquiries regarding data and sources.

Skills & Qualifications

    • A university degree, particularly in Economics, Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field, would be beneficial.
    • Previous experience in line management or leading a project team.
    • Proven experience in secondary research, particularly with time series, prices, or economic data.
    • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using Excel and similar applications.
    • Excellent attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex issues clearly, concisely, and coherently.
    • Effective time management skills, with the ability to work in a high-pressure environment and meet deadlines.
    • Experience in commodity markets and/or purchasing management, or a keen interest in industrial or agricultural commodities.
    • Entry-level knowledge of Python or Databricks would be beneficial.
