Staff Writer – Agricultural Commodities News

We’re looking for a Staff Writer to join our editorial team and help deliver timely, trusted, and insightful news to our clients across the agricultural commodities sector. You’ll work across a blend of third‑party content, original reporting, and digital publishing, contributing to a newsroom that values precision, collaboration, and market relevance.

What You’ll Do - You’ll play a key role in shaping the daily news flow by:

    • News Production & Reporting
    • Publishing third‑party news from partner aggregators across assigned commodity categories.
    • Maintaining a consistent schedule of republication to meet monthly output targets.
    • Monitoring industry developments through interviews, online research, press releases, court filings, and external data feeds.
    • Producing original stories and concise summaries that are accurate, clear, and relevant to market participants.
    • Supporting senior editorial staff with research, special projects, and new coverage areas.
    • Editorial Standards & Workflow
    • Following established editorial workflows and adjusting coverage priorities with editors.
    • Writing, formatting, proofreading, and optimising content in line with editorial and legal standards.
    • Assisting with content review processes to identify factual or legal issues.
    • Maintaining and updating website content, including layout, presentation, and imagery.
    • Using internal content management systems and documentation processes consistently.
    • Collaboration & Industry Engagement
    • Working closely with market reporters and editors to identify trends and support extended coverage.
    • Coordinating with marketing and social media teams to ensure aligned messaging.
    • Building and maintaining a network of industry contacts.
    • Representing the organisation at industry events or client engagements when required.
    • Providing guidance to junior colleagues and covering for editorial teammates when needed.

What You’ll Bring

    • Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Experience in writing, proofreading, and editorial formatting.
    • Understanding of commodity or agricultural market dynamics—or experience reporting on industry sectors.
    • Strong research skills, including the ability to use search engines, public documents, and court records.
    • Ability to work to deadlines, including occasional irregular hours.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
    • Desirable
    • Spanish or Mandarin language skills (or other additional languages).
    • Experience with digital content optimisation and editorial workflow tools.
    • Familiarity with legal and compliance considerations in news publishing.
    • Experience collaborating with marketing or social media teams.
    • Experience using generative AI tools within editorial workflows.
